Its mid-January, nine weeks until the official beginning of spring, so I am thinking of what to plant. Actually, this is something I think of all the time. I planted 600 feet of garlic and shallots last fall which is well in advance of the 2013 season. Parts of my gardens are already laid out for things like corn, squash, potatoes, and cucumbers. I have even chosen the varieties of these and how many of each to plant. But there are still cabbages, kale, cauliflower, broccoli, mustard, tomatoes, and peppers to think of. And herbs like dill, cilantro, basil. Lots of seed packets to sort through this week.
