Just Before Sunset

I didn’t care how sore my muscles felt tonight. I had to see what was going on in the marsh at sunset. All week I’ve been working in my gardens getting things ready for planting. It has been a good week for being outdoors in April: sunny, warm, and dry. So I got into my canoe and quietly floated downstream between the banks thick with tea-leaf willow and I could smell their sweet fragrance.
