White Siberian Iris

Siberian iris (Iris sibirica) are beardless irises and very similar to the native North American blue flag irises (I. versicolor and I. shrevei). The normal color of Siberian iris is blue with yellow to yellow-gold  and dark purple reticulations on the fall petals. This specimen is pure white except for the bright yellow patch at the base of the fall petals. Extremes of color variation are very popular among flower growers and although I am not particular a fan of such extremes I do like this white iris named “Snow Queen”* very much.

*one iris dealer calls this Butter and Eggs but that is not correct.
